Do I need a podcast website?
Strictly, no — you don't need a podcast website. But the benefits of having one are almost too good to ignore, especially for sharing and long-term brand control.
The short answer is no. The longer answer is: probably yes, sooner than you think.
Having one central place to send people makes your podcast shareable. Listening happens across a multitude of apps, so it simplifies things when you can just say, "Find us on mypodcast dot com."
Running your own site means full control of your branding. And if you ever plan to sell products or services off the back of the show, it gives you a massive head start.
Your hosting provider does create a basic site for you by default — some are actually decent. But there are options that take it to the next level.
