Is my podcast "launch" important?
Podcasts don't sink or swim on launch week. Promote your show as best you can — but the most important thing is getting back to work on episode two.
The word "launch" is ambiguous. Publishing your first episode is a launch — but you might also be picturing something glitzy, like a new iPhone or Xbox release.
When new tech or books come out, they only get a few weeks to sink or swim because of how charts and sales work. The good news: that has nothing in common with podcasting.
Some of the most successful podcasters spent months — or years — talking to tiny audiences before consistency paid off. Promote your show as best you can. But the thing that matters isn't how much hype you drum up; it's how soon you get back to work on the next episode.
How much launch noise do you actually need?
Rate each on 0–10. A higher total means more upfront promo will help you; a lower one means consistency matters more than hype.
Soft-launch — and stay consistent
You don't have the audience, network, or time for a big launch push right now. That's fine. Publish, get into a release rhythm, and let the show compound. Consistency beats hype.
