Microstep 7 of 10

Hooking your listener early

Podcast listeners are selfish — they tune in asking "what's in this for me?" Your first 30 seconds need to answer that, or they're gone.

Listeners are selfish. Not in a bad way — everyone tunes into content with one question in mind: what's in this for me? If the opening is drawn out, confusing, or ambiguous, it's easy for them to lose interest and switch off.

You always have creative freedom. But here's a template to start from.

"Hello and welcome to the {show}. This is the show for {audience}, all about {topic}. On this episode — have you ever struggled with {pain}? That's exactly what we're tackling, where you'll learn how to {payoff}."

Your target listener hears that and thinks "this is exactly what I've been looking for." Then all you have to do is deliver. Write yours below.

Your task
